Elizabeth Leland

By Karen Isbell

Six years before she was born she had a name.

On our honeymoon, Bryan and I chose the name”Ellie”, Elizabeth Leland.

We always thought we would be adopting a little girl since girls are few and far between in the Isbell family.

Our hearts were overjoyed to speak her name over her on March 14.

Elizabeth means: my God is a vow

While the meaning and Biblical significance were important, closer to our hearts was the legacy both names carry.

Elizabeth is a name that has been in my family through many generations as a first and middle name. It is my middle name.

Elizabeth Davis “Dink” is a great woman of faith. She has helped to direct and shape my faith and is a spiritual grandmother to me.

Leland was the name of a dear friend from college who was a worship leader in our campus ministry and sang in our wedding. She has the heart of a worshiper and taught us how to worship in spirit and truth.

We want our sweet Ellie to have great faith and genuine love for the Father and have the heart of a worshiper. I am humbled by the honor of getting to watch her grow and walk out the plans her Heavenly Father has for her.

Elizabeth Davis “Dink”

Karen, your post made me cry this morning. Our children and grands are one of our most treasured gifts from the Lord. So many parents don’t realize that their heritage from the Lord is their children. Family is so important to us but not everyone has that deep abiding feeling. One of our workers at the group home ministers at the abortion clinic. He loves his children dearly and offered to adopt a young couples child they were preparing to abort. Every mother thinking about aborting would only have to hold a precious little one and they would change their decision. We must pray every day for the mothers who are thinking of aborting their children. If they only knew what a precious gift they had.
I helped Leigh with Kelsey yesterday. What a joy she is! My time with her is never long enough.
Enjoy every minute with sweet Ellie as you see how fast she changes from day to day. Thank you Lord for allowing us the privilege of being mothers and grandmothers. Love to you, Bryan and Baby Ellie. Sandy
