Fear is a fickle friend.
She is good in short doses, but hang out with her too long and you’ll find yourself in a pit.
Fear is a jealous friend.
She likes your undivided attention and will fight to keep others out.
Fear and I have been buds for awhile.
She showed up in small circumstances but over time settled in permanently.
I knew we didn’t need to hang out, but like any bad habit, there is always separation anxiety.
Yet, I realized, if I didn’t let go, I would risk sacrificing everything.
When fear is your friend you can’t fully love others.
When fear is your friend you can’t fully receive love.
When fear is your friend you are selfish.
When fear is your friend you are doubtful.
When fear is your friend you are anxious.
When fear is your friend you can’t walk by faith.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
His words soothed my tired soul and the truth was like fresh water. There was a better way.
When faith is your friend, all things are possible, because God is able.
When power is your friend, you are able, because God is your source.
When love is your friend, you are selfless, because Jesus laid down His life for you.
When peace is your friend, your heart and mind are restful and full of truth.
I pray if you and fear are friends today you will find rest in His words.
