Where it All Began

By Karen Isbell

I love words. I love how they can inspire, encourage, convict. Words are powerful and they can move people. I have decorated my walls with words for years, framed cards with a quote I loved or a hand painted canvas. I love capturing words in a way that makes me smile and imprints them deeper on my heart.

When I began dreaming of the girls nursery, I knew I wanted it covered with quotes and scripture illustrating the Lion and the Lamb. This was one of the first times I began to play with illustrating words as I call it (I’m sure there is a more formal term) and it was a love affair.

I have continued to play with words in decorating our house to make quotes and scriptures that are meaningful to us come alive. My girls play with dolls…I play with words 😉

Back in February, I launched the Etsy store, just as a fun way to help friends raise funds for their adoption. Yet, as I continued, I knew I wanted to create something that would combine my passion for prayer with illustrated words.

I was looking for a way to encourage a friend struggling with anxiety. I wanted to put scriptures about resting in God’s peace at her fingertips and the first set of SOW Scripture Cards was born. Over the next few days, I actually laughed at how often I used them myself, becoming more aware of my own anxiety.

The rest of the sets were birthed out of my own desperation to be diligent in praying scripture over my husband, my girls and our home, yet in the daily trenches of motherhood, recalling the scriptures to speak over them seemed to be a lost cause.

I pray these cards will encourage you to SOW God’s Word into your heart through praying scripture over the different areas of your life. I can’t wait to see how God uses these to encourage you. Thanks for following along!

(P.S. I have a total list of 30 sets to reveal in the coming months! If you see a set missing, just wait, it’s coming!)
